She’s back and now she’s gone again!
Rising local country singer-song writer Sami Cooke was home for one week amidst her five month tour of Queensland.
But most of you would have missed her as she’s now returned to the Sunshine State to perform in shows for the remaining two months of her tour.
The trip north is all part of her Australian tour, which began in March in Victoria, to launch her first album.
She kicked off her Queensland tour three months ago with the the Caboolture Urban Country Music Festival, again performing three to four shows a week.
Sami then travelled to the Sunshine Coast, Gympie, Maryborough, Bundaberg, Emerald, Yeppoon to Mackay and Airlie Beach, at one stage of the trip singing for 12 hours over one weekend.
“I have had the most amazing experiences this year touring around the eastern side of Australia and I am proud to announce that we have already began planning and booking for my tour next year, with some big announcements to be made early next year,” Sami said.
What that is exactly, no one knows, but what we do know is that her Queensland trip was get go from the beginning.
“[The three shows on the Sunshine Coast] was a 12 hour weekend of singing for me so I was very happy to have a local girl Cassie Hilbers perform as my support act for my last show.”
Sami said she tries to organise a support act for each one of her shows to give artists starting out the opportunity she never had.
“To get up on stage in front of an audience and be seen by the venues. They perform between six to eight songs throughout my shows,” she said.
One of Sami’s highlights of this recent trip – or in her words “shocks” – was perhaps when she arrived for one of her shows in Maryborough and some of her family from Cowra had driven up to watch her again.
Her tour also included radio interviews and shopping trips where she bought herself a tenor ukulele.
